Need a breast or face lift? Check out the Dominican Republic
Decades ago, a popular song inhabited FM radio. At the moment, the title escapes memory, but the lyrica began “I’m leaving on a jet plane-don’t know when I’ll be back again.” So, with bags packed, we hopped on a JetBlue flight to one of our sister islands, the Dominican Republic.
The DR, as we refer to it in Puerto Rico, was originally named Hispañiola. Christopher Columbus arrived in 1492. The capital, Santo Domingo, was born in 1496. Santo Domingo is where the bulk of plastic surgeons conduct business.
Although the flight was a scant thirty-eight minutes. this island nation has much to offer in the way of restaurants, shopping and of course, sandy white beaches that even a Puerto Rican can appreciate.
We were not here not for the sugary sand beaches, but for the hundreds of plastic and cosmetic surgeons. Puerto Rico has some excellent talent in medicine, but the Dominican Republic has many more surgeons to choose from. Compared to Puerto Rico, the DR is much larger, and also includes French speaking Haiti.
Today, we meet for the first time with Dr. Fernandez Goico. A young man, he comes from a family of doctors. I predict that we will mesh seamlessly with him, as he is also a keen art collector. The job of art collector is an important one: No collectors, no art.
Plastic surgery is a marriage of art and science. Dr. FG, a nickname bestowed by his efficient staff, does only one surgery a day. The number of surgeries per week is an important tool for choosing a surgeon. Asking how many surgeries a week are performed is an important metric for your surgeon search.
Always ask how many surgeries a doctor performs per week.
You are looking for the surgeon with the least amount of surgeries a week. I happen to be a rather selfish young lady of sixty-seven. I demand total attention and focus from my surgeon. When we dine in a great restaurant, I also want to feel total devotion. With a proper surgeon, you are his wife for the day.
Doctor Fernandez Goico will perform a breast lift for me. I chose the Bellesoma method. This entails a horizontal cut in the lower pole of the breast. Because I am blessed with good skin, my incision will become invisible over time.
At last I can confidently go to a topless beach! That is, if his Majesty the husband agrees. Let’s see-Martinique or Guadeloupe may serve. Also Orient Beach in San Martin.
After all, when I buy a new dress, I wear it immediately; I shall also be wearing my new tetas!
